Job Description
The main purpose of this role is to provide opportunities for programme participants to improve their literacy, numeracy language and general employability skills through guidance, support and the delivery of structured and/or individually targeted training
Duties will include:
·Carry out initial and diagnostic assessment for each participant to identify learning and support needs
·Contribute to the development of an Individual Learning Plan for each participant ensuring that all learning and support needs that have been identified are addressed
·Deliver employment focused literacy, numeracy and language training as required to meet the group and individual needs of programme participants
·To liaise with Employer Liaison Officers to assist in match participants to employment opportunities relevant to their career aspirations
·To liaise with the Personal Advisers to ensure the Basic skills support needs of programme participants are met
·Provide direction, guidance, support and assistance to programme participants in matters relating to employability
·Maintain an up to date working knowledge of the local labour market and relevant support agencies
·Support the production of case studies and good news stories
·Promote and represent the programme and the company to employers, suppliers and partners at appropriate events, conferences, etc
·To undertake necessary training as identified in appraisals/performance reviews
.To work within the company?s quality framework, ensuring services delivered conform the standards of the framework and awarding bodies
·Maintain an appropriate administration system, compliant with the requirements of the programme contract and Quality Management System
·Undertake other duties and responsibilities in the service of the programme or the company as directed by the line manager
Essential Skills/Experience required:
·Previous experience of delivering basic skills support and training to unemployed adults and labour market returnees
·Relevant teaching qualification
·Ability to communicate at all levels
·Ability to motivate others
·Ability to work to targets and deadlines
·Ability to work with minimum supervision
·Good problem solving skills
·Good local labour market and ancillary support knowledge
·Flexible approach to service delivery
·Sound understanding of equal opportunities issues
·Good organisational and administration skills
·Good IT skills
·Ability to travel
Desirable:
·Certificate in Education or equivalent
·Subject Specialist Certificate for Literacy / Numeracy / ESOL
·Knowledge of government funded employment programmes
·Understanding the nature of disadvantage in the local labour market and the issues that need to be addressed
·Able and willing to work outside normal office hours
