Job Description
To provide the Business Unit with Financial and Contract Support reporting, management, value, control and direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting
1. Reporting of Business Unit management accounts
2. Reporting of Business Unit balance sheet reconciliations
3. Reporting of Business Unit plans and forecasts
4. Reporting to be accurate, timely, consistent and in accordance with business policies and procedures
5. With the Business Unit Director/ Manager, conduct monthly contract reviews with line contract management
6. With the Business Unit Director/ Manager, attend and lead a monthly Business Unit Review with the Executive Board
Management
1. Directly and indirectly manage Business Unit Finance and Contract Support staff
2. Ensure all Finance and Contract Support staff are recruited correctly, trained and reaching required performance standards
3. Ensure Contract Support staff are raising purchase orders, maintaining the purchase ledger, posting timesheets, reviewing WiP with the Contract Managers, reviewing o/s purchase orders and billing in compliance with business procedures as determined by the National Business Administration Manager
Added Value
1. Provide financial and contract support leadership and direction in the Business Unit. This will involve personal attitude, use of skills and dissemination of knowledge
2. Use analysis of the Business Unit to, for example, identify opportunities/ issues, resolve issues, improve understanding, measure improvement and drive performance
3. Implement improvements, drive change, raise standards through the direct and indirect management of staff
4. Make commercial decisions
5. Visit sites, meet customers and communicate with Business Unit line managers
Control
1. Responsibility for the accounting system in the Business Unit eg reporting structure, training programmes, set up and maintenance of customer account details
2. Ensure business policies and procedures are followed throughout the Business Unit
3. Monitoring of purchase order status, WiP, billing, ledger postings and other Contract Support inputs and outputs
4. Work with other Finance and Contract Support Managers to improve cross-Business Unit reporting and procedures, and to ensure adequate processes are in place across the business
Other
1. Any other task/ role as reasonably requested by the Business Unit Director/ Manager or the Financial Controller
2. Participation in project work eg implementation of new Finance systems
ACCOUNTABLE TO
1. Direct reporting to the Business Unit Director/ Manager.
2. Indirect reporting to the Financial Controller
Taking the advice of the National Business Administration Manager.
