Position: HR/Training Officer
Location: Manchester
Salary: Circa £22,000
Hours: 40 hours per week. Flexibility required as some late finishes and Saturday work required.
My client is the leading operator of greyhound stadia in the UK and is currently recruiting for a Human Resource/Training Officer to identify business needs and provide operational support to line Managers. This is a challenging role with responsibility for a wide range of HR related tasks and career progression and development is uncapped.
Key responsibilities and Duties
· To select, recruit and train employees in line with job and person specifications and to provide the correct skill level to achieve business objectives
· To communicate business needs and objectives to a wide variety of individuals from business clients to unskilled workers
· Responsible for providing advice to Line Managers on an array of issues including disciplinaries, grievances, absence control, employee rights and training issues
· Administrate and update monthly payroll amendments including sick pay, salary adjustments and pensions to ensure correct payments and deductions are actioned by payroll in line with company policies
· To provide advice to line Managers on policies and procedures to ensure conformance with company standards and statutory requirements
· To maintain records for internal training and evaluation to monitor training activities and for use in both cost benefit analysis and staff appraisals
· To maintain personnel files manual and computerised so that information is easily retrievable and up to date
· Ensure smooth communication lines are maintained between staff and management
Qualifications/Skills Required
Skills and Experience
· The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years HR experience in either a Retail, Leisure, Catering or Hospitality/Hotel industry
· Ideally you will have operational management/supervisory experience
· The person must be able to work unsocial hours. At least 2 race nights per week plus the odd Saturday. You will get one week day off in this case and flexibility with start times on race days
· Must be willing to show a degree of commitment to the business so that they get a deep understanding about how HR can improve what we do
