Job Description
The main purpose of this role is to research, develop and cultivate new business opportunities by networking externally and internally, researching government and business trends, identifying business opportunities, contributing to the preparation of bids and tenders and implementing new projects and contracts
Duties will include:
·Assist in meeting the business development aims and objectives of the company
·Research business and Government trends to ensure the company can maximise opportunities within new and existing business areas
·Network internally and externally to identify and develop business opportunities
·Assist in the preparation of bids and tenders for new business
·Assist with the implementation of contracts upon award
·Build partnerships and effective links with external organisations to enable the company to develop new areas of business and improve existing areas of delivery
·Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic business development plan
·Initiate and support the development of existing contracts in line with business trends, strategic direction, and identified best practice
·Promote and represent the company to employers, suppliers, at appropriate events, conferences, etc
·Work within the company?s quality framework, ensuring services delivered conform the standards of the framework.
·Undertake other duties and responsibilities in the service of the company as directed by the line manager
Essential Skills/Experience required:
·Relevant previous experience in a research and development / business development role in the employment / training industry
·Knowledge and experience of government funded employment programmes
·Previous experience of preparing tenders and bids
·Thorough understanding of local labour market issues and good ancillary support knowledge
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent command of the English language
·Proven track record in meeting and surpassing targets
·Good research and development skills
·Ability to present information and concepts in such a way that they are understood at all levels
·Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
·Able to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision
·Prepared to work outside of normal office hours
·Prepared and able to travel
·Outstanding negotiation and persuasion skills
·Ability to motivate others
·Outstanding problem solving skills
·Understanding the nature of disadvantage in the local labour market and the issues that need to be addressed
·Sound understanding of equal opportunities issues - able to recognise discrimination in its many forms and willing to put the company?s equality policies into practice
·Good organisational and administration skills
·Good IT skills
Desirable:
·Educated to degree level
·Experience of project management and project implementation
·Experience of programme design relating to training and/or employability
·Knowledge and understanding of commercial training delivery
·Current clean driving license
