Job Description

The Ab Initio designer/developer holds particular responsibility for
detailed design, development and unit testing of all Ab Initio related work
products. This is a challenging hands-on position requiring deep product
knowledge coupled with broad transferable skills as part of an Agile Data
Warehousing team.

The key responsibilities of the role are:
• Creation of Ab Initio design and development work products that conform
to the stated business requirements and high level design documents. Work
products include Ab Initio graphs and associated code-level work products
such as DML, management of the repository using EME, a controlled multifile
environment under Linux
• Appropriate unit-level testing of work products and the management of the
review process for the Ab Initio deliverables with the appropriate team and
client stakeholders
• Coordinates with other team members to ensure that all work products
integrate together as a complete solution and adopts a supporting role to
any other team member to resolve issues, or to complete tasks sooner
• Joint planning, design and problem resolution in project and client
workshops and meetings

Any candidate for the role will be able to demonstrate the following
skills:
• 3-5 years experience with Ab Initio Data Warehousing applications and
associated platforms across multiple clients and sectors, in particular use
of EME would be welcomed.
• Shell scripting under Linux, in particular Red Hat Linux Advanced Server
• Good appreciation of Data Warehouse development methodologies, and
up-to-date Agile approaches to project delivery

The Ab Initio Designer/Developer is likely to have the contribution group
of “Professional ” or above, and will demonstrate the following core
competencies:

• Excellent problem resolution skills
• Proactive and committed to resolving conflicts with stakeholders
• Good team player

Telco knowledge not essential but more than useful.

Teradata or Business Object skills and experience a huge bonus.
