Job Description
Our client, one of the country's top 20 law firms are looking for an Associate to join their Commercial Property Division.
The work of the group is varied and includes:
Strategic planning advice.
Public enquiries including advocacy.
CPO advice
Highways advice
Planning & environmental transaction support
Contaminated land liability advice
Environmental regulatory compliance advice;
accordingly any successful applicant (bearing in mind their relative seniority) will need the following skills:
Good knowledge of planning law
Knowledge of environmental law would be an advantage
The ability to manage files unsupervised, with particular emphasis on meeting deadlines, and to proactively support senior fee-earners on more complex cases, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as required.
The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally)
A clear understanding of high standards of client care for existing and potential clients.
The ability to identify/develop and support business development opportunities, establishing strong client relationships at all levels.
Good sense of humour and the ability to fit into a team based environment.
There are excellent prospects for progression within this role and within the merged firm as a whole.
The successful candidate will have:
Strong academic achievement,
Sound planning experience gained within a mid-tier firm. Some environmental experience would be an advantage
Clear commercial awareness and the
ability to develop new sources of work
