Job Description

Our client, a manufacturing company of some repute, is looking for a buyer whose purpose within the team will be to procure products and tooling for new programmes, source suppliers for new products, maintain relationships with current suppliers and take a pro-active stance in identifying purchase saving opportunities.

Within this broad outline, more specific responsibilities are:

-for component cost related issues
-negotiating supplier quotations
-cost price and analysis
-liaison with suppliers for program issues
-to assist in supplier selection
-define targets and cost savings opportunities
-co-ordinate all engineering change management related issues

The skills required to effectively fulfil this function are:

-a good knowledge of automotive products
-good level of economic/ commercial experience
-familiarity with supplier development tools
-knowledge of tooling sourcing and estimating

Strong candidates will be well educated, ideally with CIPS, and ready to apply a highly professional approach to the role. A willingness to travel is desired.
