Job Description
A multidisciplinary practice comprising of architects, building surveyors and planning supervisors this practice employs around 20 staff. Located in a restored listed building the practice is fortunate to be based in an example of their own work.
The practice works on various projects: conservation (Grade I and II), MOD, industrial, healthcare and education. The practice does not work on large retail schemes.
The practice operates a policy of tailoring packages to suit individuals enabling them to offer higher salaries and less benefits which may not be required.
A Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS / FRICS) is required to join this friendly, busy, multidisciplinary practice based in York.
Predominantly involved in commercial and industrial projects, you will also get involved with small residential projects including work for Stately Homes and Housing Associations.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include completing both limited and detailed structural surveys, defect diagnosis, schedule of works and dilapidation's, condition and planned maintenance, construction management, expert witness duties and the Party Wall Act.

This attractive salary of £41,000 - £46,000 includes a £4000 car allowance, annual payment reviews, petrol allowance, 24hr personal accident insurance, child care vouchers and 23 days annual leave. This practice also operates an attractive holiday trading scheme.
Qualifications/Skills Required
You will be a Chartered Building Surveyor who is self motivated and hard-working with bags of enthusiasm. With the ability to work alone or as part of a team you will have good communication and presentation skills, taking a practical approach to your responsibilities.
You will be smart and presentable for client facing duties, with a friendly 'personable' attitude.
A working knowledge of UK building regulations, MS Word / Excel and the ability to drive is essential. Whilst a knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project and CDM co-ordination would be an advantage.
