A London borough is looking to expand it's child protection unit, to reflect our diverse community, and our workforce as a whole, we want to encourage more women and racial minorities to apply for the jobs at senior management level. We are therefore particularly keen to invite highly skilled and motivated females and racial minority candidates who share our service aims and ethos to apply for this post.
The borough has an established Child Protection Unit which plays a key role in maintaining high standards of practice in relation to all aspects of child protection work. The Unit has an extensive role, including monitoring/auditing responsibilities across the department, the Deputy Chairing of the Permanency Panels, as well as the independent chairing of child protection conferences.
You will contribute to the formulation of child protection policy and procedures and play a key role in monitoring standards of practice and evaluating outcomes. You will act as a consultant on complex child protection cases and demonstrate a strong commitment to working openly and in partnership with families and other agencies.
You should have at least four years' post-qualifying experience with considerable experience in the areas of child protection and supervision of staff carrying child protection cases. In addition you will have a detailed knowledge of child protection work and an understanding of the complex issues involved and be able to chair multidisciplinary meetings ensuring clarity of decision making in the conference process.
You will be offered appropriate training where this would be helpful as well as considerable support within the Child Protection Unit.
All applicant must have a CRB from within the last 12 months.
