Job Description
An environmental, engineering and planning consultancy is seeking a civil engineer/geo-technical engineer to assist with the design, construction and authorisation of waste management facilities including landfill sites, waste treatment plants, recycling, re-use & composting facilities.
Previous use of geotechnical software such as slope stability and finite element analysis is required and knowledge of the use of geomembranes/geotextiles in civil engineering applications is desirable.
Candidates should be able to produce detailed drainage schemes and run-off calculations, interpret legislative and statutory guidance and produce compliant schemes for containment engineering using clays and plastic liners, drainage layers and collection schemes for leachate. Abilities to design and build civic amenity sites, transfer stations, treatment plants, and small-scale waste recycling sites would be useful.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Chartered (or nearing) Civil Engineer
- Stong background in geotechnical engineering
- Thorough knowledge of soil mechanics & its interaction with geology
- Ability to prepare a CQA plan, supervise works & produce a validation report is required
