Job Description
The work of the Planning & Environment group is varied and involves providing comprehensive and pro-active advice on the full range of
planning & environment issues, with particular emphasis on projects relating to brownfield redevelopment,
regeneration and waste schemes. In addition, the group advises on environmental issues, such as pollution
control, contaminated land, licensing and environmental litigation.
The job holder will report to the Head of the Group. Any successful applicant (bearing in mind their relative seniority) will need the following skills:
Good knowledge of planning law
The ability to manage files unsupervised, with particular emphasis on meeting deadlines, and to proactively support senior fee-earners on more complex cases, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as required.
The ability to contribute to the development of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally)
A clear understanding of high standards of client care for existing and potential clients.
The ability to identify/develop and support business development opportunities, establishing strong client relationships at all levels.
Be capable of working on own initiative and have good organisational skills
Good sense of humour and the ability to fit into a team based environment
The successful applicant will have:
Strong academic achievement
Sound planning experience gained within an upper or mid-tier firm
Clear commercial awareness
Ability to develop new sources of work
