Job Description

• Responsible for developing bespoke solutions according to customer specification and requirements.
• Whole development lifecycle from requirements analysis, through to technical design, application development to quality assurance and deployment.
• Authoring of technical documents.
• Application support for bespoke products.
• Develop and execute test plans.
• Data manipulation – GIS/Spatial data.

Essential Skills

• An IT/Computer Science degree with 2- 3 years commercial development experience or a GIS degree with 2-3 years commercial development experience.
• Must be a competent Visual Basic programmer with at least 2 years commercial experience.
• Must have at least 2 years experience of creating database solutions with Sql Server or Oracle
• Experience of web development – asp, XML. HMTL, Javascript.
• Due to the customer interaction levels of this role, you must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and articulate customer requirements in both written and oral form.
• Ability and experience of solving complex problems.
• Commercial/business focus and ability to interact with people at all levels, both internally and with the external customer base.


Desirable Skills

• .net – VB, C# or asp
• Experience in C++.
• MapBasic skills
• Experience of databases such as Oracle
• Experience of handling geodemographic, retail and GIS datasets
• Data modelling
