This organisation’s appointment as the preferred bidder for South Tyneside and Gateshead Building Schools for the Future PPP contract has created this fantastic opportunity.
As a Design Manager on the £175 million project you will be responsible for managing the design on both new build and refurbishment BSF programmes, from inception to completion.
Your responsibilities will include implementing the agreed design management strategy, ensuring the project team is working to the Contractor's Proposals, assessing design risk, providing a design management service working with bid and site teams and ensuring that all aspects of the design management procedures are implemented.
The main purpose of this role is to manage the design element of a major project by: Co-ordinating and distributing design information from Designers/Design Subcontractors to support achievement of the programme. Critically review design information to ensure that it fulfils commercial/contractual obligations, build ability and those elements fit together, address issues raised. Managing in conjunction with Planner, design information requests and distribution.
Qualifications/Skills Required
The successful candidate will be of Graduate calibre with HNC/HND, I.O.B., degree or equivalent in a related discipline. They will also have the following skills and attributes: extensive experience within the Construction Industry; excellent inter-personal/communications and negotiation skills;
technical skills and knowledge (comprising construction materials, construction methods and technology, design, environmental legislation and issues, planning techniques, building regulations, procurement, management systems, temporary works, health and safety, risk management, life cycle costings, value engineering and value creation): in return you will be given an excellent basic salary and package within a truly progressive company.
