Job Description
General information:
The Finance Division comprises of 14 partners, 34 assistants, 15 trainees and 3 paralegals.
The Finance Division covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious corporate recovery, reorganisation and insolvency aswell as a full range of non-contentious lending and securities work. The division handles all varieties of secured and unsecured debt financing (on both the banking and capital markets), including asset financing, project finance, finance leasing, swaps and other derivatives, bank regulation and consumer credit.
The division also covers project finance work and some non-financing projects work.
There are opportunities for candidates who wish to specialise in capital markets and derivatives work.
The role:
Between 3 to 5 years pqe with an emphasis on any of; aquisition, project and property finance; securitisation; structured finance (CDOs, CLOs etc) and derivatives; corpoate recovery; general bank lending.
A desire to contribute to growning the finance practice.
Legal ability of a high level, relevant experience within an established fim in the above areas, good personal skills with clients and colleagues alike and a readiness to take responsibility and use your initiative.
Experience required:
We would usually require:
2.1 degree (generally) from a highly respected University, 2.2 when given exceptional circumstances
solicitors examinations passed first time.
excellent 'A' Level (or equivalent) grades.
We will always expect to see 'A' Level grades, subjects and dates on a candidate's CV.
For foreign lawyers an academic transcript will always be required.
Articles served or relevant experience with a top City Firm are normally required.
Evidence of practice in a relevant area of work.
Behavioural Competancy
Depending upon level of experience, assistants usually work in small teams under the supervision of a Partner. Candidates will need to display an ability to take responsibility, to have excellent interpersonal skills and be team players. It is vital that they are able to communicate with individuals at all levels within the firm, and to maintain sound client relationships. Personality is also important within the role, and candidates will need to show evidence of having something to add to the department.
