Job Description
Recruitment and Selection
•To co-ordinate and participate in all aspects of the recruitment and selection of international and London HQ staff, in liaison with other HQ departments and field teams.
•To advise other departments and the field sites in the development of clear job descriptions and person specifications for all vacancies.
•To organise and participate in recruitment marketing activities, in the UK and Europe. This includes making presentations to groups of potential overseas staff, raising awareness about the organistaion and informing about overseas opportunities.
•To write and place recruitment advertisements where and when appropriate.
•To maintain and develop good relationships with similar organizations and have ongoing dialogues concerning policies and trends in the sector.
•To coach field managers on issues related to recruitment and selection.
Employee Relations
•To advise, facilitate and participate in employee relations issues relating to areas such as performance, capability, discipline and absence in accordance with Employment Law and best practice
•To lead on specific projects as directed by the HR Director, eg pay reviews, policy and procedure reviews
•To provide advice on the management of all staff to ensure it is carried out with policies and employment law.

Administration
•To review and update procedures to respond to the increasing amount of applications, both for specific and speculative applications
•To update and maintain the HR Database.
•To co-ordinate with the HR and Travel Assistant on all aspects of the briefings and debriefing including travel arrangements.
•To issue offer letters and contracts for London HQ and overseas staff.
•To produce statistics on recruitment and placement activities
•To cover for absences in the HR department.
Person specification
Essential
•CIPD Qualified
•Minimum 12-18 months experience in recruitment and/or generalist personnel environment
•Educated to degree level
•An interest in humanitarian aid issues
•Understanding of HR databases and willing to learn the Merlin Select HR system
•Good IT skills – MS Office and Internet
•Excellent inter-personal communication skills – especially negotiation and interviewing
•Good admin skills, especially time-management
•Flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills
•Proactive, “can-do” approach to work
•Willingness to work occasional evenings (approx. 1 per month) and weekends (approx. 2 –3 per year)
