Job Description
General information:
The insurance and reinsurance industry has unquestionably been the business sector most affected by the recent terrorist attacks. The new environment emerging within the industry presents those involved with perhaps their greatest challenge yet.
Although the industry remains in a state of flux, a number of identifiable trends have already emerged. Rapid consolidation both within and across national boundaries, twinned with increasing globalisation has transformed the industry. Companies position themselves to possess the capacity to absorb losses and take advantage of the increasing rates within hardening markets worldwide. Allied to widespread regulatory change and the growing number of restructurings, including refinancings and demutalisations, the industry across the world is undergoing fundamental change at an unprecedented rate.
Our client is at the forefront of those forward looking legal advisers that are responding to these changes. We can provide the specialist focus and international coverage which our insurance and reinsurance clients increasingly require. Our insurance and reinsurance practice is unique in its breadth and depth of expertise in both contentious and non-contentious areas. Details of our non-contentious practice can be found on our financial institutions practice page.
The reputation of our insurance and reinsurance practice is for dealing with complex, high-value and high-profile claims, often with an international element. Our practice comprises lawyers from across the firm?s international network with wide ranging experience in acting for insurers and reinsurers, as well as major insured companies and their captive insurers, on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance law. In addition, we have a pre-eminent broker practice and a strong insurance insolvency practice.
