Job Description
This company is a services, maintenance and building group. They provide services across the whole life of many types of buildings and infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, offices, retail centres, industrial plant, bridges, waterworks or roads. They offer services at each stage of the asset lifecycle: they build, help others build by hiring them equipment, maintain, support operations and they replace. Around 80 per cent of their services are delivered into the built environment and 20 per cent to plant and infrastructure.
This large building services contractor provides the engineering service of this national construction group. Currently working on large education projects in the West Yorkshire area, this contractor requires an M&E Project Manager to form part of a new team on a £6.9million school.
As an M&E Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire building services installations on a school. Initially, they will have responsibility to negotiate prices and to procure materials and sub-contractors for the school project. Once this has been completed, they will become site-based and will begin the engineering support processes for the installation of mechanical and electrical building service systems. This will be done through to final project completion.
On-site, the Project Manager will be regularly conversing with their clients, their main building contractor and their Project Engineers. This will ensure each party is up-to-date on the project's progress and are all working towards common goals throughout. They will be responsible for managing both directly employed and sub-contracted labour.
Qualifications/Skills Required
To apply for this role, candidates must be currently working for building services contractors, either as a Project Manager or an experienced Project Engineer. Preferably, candidates will have obtained an HNC in a related field such as Electrical / Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
Within this role, the candidate will have gained a good working knowledge of building services systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning as well as other related services. They will also have experience of liaising with clients, negotiating contracts and managing directly employed and sub-contracted labour.
Ideally, candidates will have experience of working on education projects although this is not essential, as commercial and industrial experience is also beneficial.
The company has a large workload in the north of England, guaranteeing continuity and long term prospects for employees. They also provide a company vehicle / car allowance, a pension and a bonus scheme, as well as very competitive salaries.
