Job Description

This design consultancy, part of a larger international group, employs around 260 staff, 160 of whom are based in York. The smaller offices are growing considerably and also developing new business for the company.

At present rail projects and associated infrastructure encompasses the greatest part of their workload. As the teams across the country expand and additional expertise is brought into the company their range of work will expand.

Located in the centre of York the office is directly opposite the train station in a sixties office block which has to some extent been redeveloped internally. There is parking with plenty of car parks locally, the proximity to the train station is ideal for commuters.

Qualifications/Skills Required

A Plain Line Technician is required to provide office based design support to Engineers on a variety of railway track projects. You will use MxRail and Microstation to prepare alingment designs from conception to 'approved for construction' status. You will be involved with some site based work, acting as Assistant Surveyor when required undertaking topographical surveys or plain line hallade surveys.

To apply for the position of Plain Line Technician you will be qualified to ONC / HNC level in either civil or mechanical engineering. You should have previous experience in a permanent way design engineering environment. You should hold a full UK driving licence.
