As a Principal Engineer / Project Manager the main purpose of your role will be to act as a point of contact with your Private sector clients to provide technical and planning advice to help progress their developments through planning, detailed design and hand over.
You will work with multiple clients and will be assigned as a specialist contact to work closely with them to enable them to realise their vision and to complete their development projects.
You will have involvement at the very earliest stage providing advice on land planning issues and local authority adoption procedures. You will oversee a small team within our clients 'Pre-Planning Team' who carry out initial feasibility and assessment work before schemes can progress through to detailed design which is carried out by the 'Post-Planning Team'.
Hands-on technical work is likely to be limited but you will need to have an appreciation of technical issues and constraints which may arise further down the line. Ultimately your role will be to ensure client satisfaction and that schemes are delivered to agreed standards and with limitation to any potential problems.
An excellent role that is more than your average PE position and can offer excellent project opportunities.

Good communication skills (verbal and written) are therefore essential as is a professional business manner. You will need to be capable of managing your own busy workload whilst also directing the team you work with.
The role will appeal to a good problem solver who enjoys a challenge and is confident in their ability to deliver, comfortable with the management of projects and has good financial acumen and a client focused, value driven approach to engineering.
