A Principal Engineer is required to join the growing transport planning team in Leeds to be involved in all aspects of traffic and transportation engineering including transport assessments for new developments, masterplanning, travel plans and urban regeneration projects.
You will manage all technical, commercial and client care issues across policy research and strategic appraisal to transport assessments and traffic engineering. This role is client facing, and you should feel confident in liaising with clients, suppliers and local authorities. You will attend client meetings and site visits and will also be required to manage individual projects and provide support to less experienced members of staff.
Qualifications/Skills Required
To apply for the position of Principal Transportation Engineer you must have sound technical knowledge and should have experience in the use of TRANSYT, LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY. You should have a good level of knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the Manual for Streets). You must be capable of working to deadlines and be a strong communicator with both staff and clients. You must be degree qualified. This will likely be in either civil engineering or mathematics and you should be a member of a relevant professional body such as IHT. You should have experience of the design of a range of transport planning projects across public and private sectors, ideally within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
