The Highways and Bridges Design Team is currently engaged on Design Services Framework commissions for two Local Authorities as well as providing design services for DBFO companies. The team also supports other teams in the UK in delivering highway design for Highways Agency projects as well the NRA in Ireland.
A Principal Engineer is required to join a team based in Leeds and carry out a key role in a team involved with a range of highways engineering activities. As a Principal Engineer your role will essentially be a technical project management role requiring you to supervise junior staff in delivering a busy workload.
You will help plan and manage your teams workload in order to meet agreed deadlines and you will assist in mentoring junior staff. You will oversee the accurate production of contract documentation and technical reports and you will have responsibility to ensure that standards are adhered to.
As a Principal Engineer you will be required to liaise closely with your client and other 3rd parties and you will act as a focal point in resolving any design issues.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Applicants for this role will need to be degree qualified Civil Engineers who have achieved professional accreditation (MICE / IEng). You will have a strong technical knowledge in relation to highways engineering and will be capable of managing a small team.
You must have a good working knowledge of current UK design standards and relevant legislation and you will need to have excellent communication and people management skills.
