MSB Supply Chain on behalf of their client have a position for an experienced Puchasing Specialsit, ideally from a Chemical/Manufacturing background. Job Detail Identify alternative sources when putting together agreements. Focuses on total UK basis when applicable, leveraging business needs. Accumulates information about assigned markets to include a more advanced understanding of the commodity and the associated processes, knowledge of potential suppliers and their capabilities, and an understanding of current and future supply/demand balances. Interfaces on a regular basis with other sourcing and logistics resources. Provides major input and plays a key role in the development of strategic sourcing plan. Ensures alignment with relevant areas affected (directly or indirectly) by supply chain activities. Assesses market conditions as they apply to assigned commodities. Analyzes and evaluates suppliers in terms of quality, service, cost and capability. Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities throughout the contractual relationships. Reviews assigned commodities periodically with leadership and with help, can identify opportunities. Develops, evaluates, communicates and promotes Best Practices. Audits supplier performance against agreements and defines areas for improvement. Resolves strategic, quality/service issues and overall performance with leveraged suppliers. Ensures competitive pricing versus industry service and markets. Leads supplier productivity improvement process with a goal of 5% improvement each year from key suppliers (> $1MM/year). Responsible for ensuring all agreements, purchases and initiatives comply with policy. Understands legal and ethics aspect of procurement activities. May direct activities of or have as direct reports; purchasing associates and lower level buyers. Seeks and recognizes leveraging opportunities; applies knowledge to gain leveraged benefits. Negotiates, prepares and executes procurement agreements
