Job Description

Qualified Social Worker - Children
Our client requires a Qualified Social Worker with with at least 2 Years post qualification experience within children and families.Candidates MUST hold an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau dated within the last 12 months. CV's will not be accepted without.

Duties, although not exhaustive, will include:

To act as a member of a professional team providing social work services to children and their families, with the purpose of safeguarding and promoting their welfare.
To implement the policies and strategic objectives of Social Services.
To assist users of the service and their carers in the identification and resolution of problems they present wherever possible within a framework of partnership and choice.
To manage a workload with supervision and advice in accordance with jointly agreed performance indicators.
To work closely with members of other disciplines and organisations, including colleagues from other teams, residential staff, foster carers, education social workers, police officers, probation, schools, health, housing, voluntary and independent organisations.
To maintain accurate and up to date records in line with policies and procedures.
To work within the framework of legislation and guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.
To work to the policies and procedure of Barking & Dagenham Social Services.
To contribute to the planning and development of the services provided by the team and promote the improvement of standards and quality assurance.
To promote the equality of opportunity in line with the Local Authorities policies.
To undertake risk assessments and formulate child protection and child care plans.
To undertake supervision of children on the child protection register, children looked after and children assessed as being in need.

Qualifications/Skills Required

Social Work, DipSW, Children
