A large multi disciplinary engineering consultancy with offices throughout the UK and internationally. With over 7,000 staff this consultancy are the second largest overall and the have the fifth largest rail team in the UK. They are Investor's in People accredited and feel they have an open and honest culture across the group.

The York office is well established and incorporates highways, rail and bridges disciplines. There are currently 25 Engineers within the rail team in York working regionally with the office in Manchester.

A Rail Structures Design Engineer is required to join the team in York to undertake the design and assessment of bridges and structures. Your role will be to produce designs and specifications for civil and structural engineering projects. You will also inspect, assess and check existing rail and highways structures and bridges. You will oversee work on site, mentor less experienced staff and provide project management assistance working within agreed timescales and budgets.

Qualifications/Skills Required

To apply for the position of Rail Structures Design Engineer you must be degree qualified in civil or structural engineering. You must have experience of the design of bridges and / or structures to British standards or equivalent. You should also ideally have experience of the inspection of structures and preparation of examination reports. You are likely to be working towards Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE.
