Job Description
1. To provide technical and operational support for the business and its special events activities to enable the successful delivery of all graduate, executive development and conference programmes.
2. To provide maintenance and repair service for BMS and electrical, electronic, mechanical appliances Also networked services and equipment. To meet operational needs and statutory requirements.
CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To ensure that lecture room AudioVisual equipment is available in good time and in good working order.
2. To advise and support users on appropriate A.V. hardware and software applications ensuring best practice.
3. To operate the equipment and events booking system.
4. To liaise with internal and external technical services to ensure that A.V. equipment is fully operational.
5. To provide reasonable out of hours cover for events.
6. To carry out routine testing and recording of portable appliance testing to meet current legislation.
7. To carry out repairs and maintenance to BMS and electrical, electronic, mechanical appliances also networked services.
8. To operate the TV, sound studio and edit suite, also to provide video and sound services for School events.
9. To assist in the production of materials for Media Services including the A.V. aspects of presentation and learning materials.
10. To maintain stock levels of departmental consumable equipment and materials.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Technicians will normally work with a minimum of supervision and are expected to co-ordinate the provision of cover and services provided by the group to events. This may include out of hour's activities.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
To external technical service suppliers who are being used to support events.
To staff and students regarding the use and operation of A.V. equipment.
CONTACTS
The technicians will be expected to develop an extensive range of internal and external contacts. This will include working with staff and clients at all levels in delivering A.V. event support. External contacts will include establishing links with specialist technical equipment and service providers.
Qualifications/Skills Required
The post holder must have at least two years experience in the operation of audiovisual equipment and events support. He / she should be competent in the operation of building management systems or to have the aptitude to be trained in its operation.
The post holder must be an effective communicator and be experienced at dealing with people at all levels. He/she should have current knowledge of Microsoft Windows products and be able to assist others in the application of A.V. related materials.
The post holder should be technically competent in the repair and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, electronic equipment, or to have the aptitude to be trained in its operation.
