An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate / Senior level Rail Engineer to join an established team in York. You would work within a railways works design team and be responsible for supervising and managing a team of up to 5 assistant Engineers and Technicians. You would be responsible for delivering up to 10 projects simultaneously, on time and to budget. You will report to the Project Manager on a daily basis and manage the design process from inception to completion.
You would also be required to liaise with other members of project teams, as well as internal and external sub contractors. You would be involved with cost management, tenders and invoicing of projects. Around 75% of your time will be spent on design including planning and undertaking survey works on site.
Qualifications/Skills Required
To apply for the role of Senior Engineer you should be degree qualified and should ideally be a Chartered Civil Engineer or approaching Chartership status. You should have considerable experience as an engineer within a UK consultancy, with extensive experience working within a rail environment.
You should ideally be experienced in both personnel management and project management. Your previous experience within an engineering consultancy should extend to working with other engineering disciplines. You should be knowledgeable of standards and best practice for works in Rail Depots, stations and other railway infrastructure.
Personally you should have excellent communication skills, good IT skills and be ambitious to take on the challenge that this exciting role offers.
