The Water and Environmental Team in Leeds is primarily involved in flood defence work for the EA and flood risk management for a number of Local Authorities and Private Developers. They also work closely with other teams in the group to form a multi-disciplinary team capable of delivering full engineering design services to their clients.

Senior Engineer required to join a very busy team in Leeds and carry out a design focused role working on a number of ongoing schemes. Current project work includes 3 pre-feasibility studies for the EA and Phase 2 of a major, £14m flood alleviation scheme in South Yorkshire.
Working in support of a PE you will be required to propose effective design packages that meet the project brief as well as the defined budgetary constraints and targeted deadlines. Other aspects of the role will include helping to manage and mentor junior staff and you may also be required to regularly liaise with your client to provide progress updates.
Project work is varied and comes from a number of areas whether it is FRA for Private or Public sector clients or major civils design for the EA. Many assignments are multi-disciplinary in nature and involve working with other teams within the office - mainly Geotechnical and Structural Engineering.
Qualifications/Skills Required
The successful candidate for this position will be a degree qualified Civil Engineer with experience in the design of flood protection schemes and, ideally, with experience of working with the EA. You will have a good understanding of the common forms of civil engineering contracts and you will be comfortable liaising with clients and other third parties. You will need to have good report writing skills and be a confident, clear communicator.
You will need to be able to produce accurate technical reports and be comfortable supervising junior staff. Confident in your ability to deliver you will be keen to work within an organisation that can offer excellent project and career opportunities and you will have a positive outlook on further development.
