Job Description

Senior HR Advisor
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Senior HR Advisor
Essex - Colchester

1. Responsible for recruitment, reward, performance, and effective employee relations throughout the region.

2. Provides professional, customer focused HR advice and support to all staff and managers on the full range of HR topics.

3. Ensures that policies and procedures are applied fairly and consistently across the organisation in terms of meeting the needs of different business units.

4. Ensures good employee relations and communications are encouraged across the organisation by working closely with managers and staff in order to resolve any differences in order to maintain best practice.

5. Act as a key member of the local management team in the effective implementation of organisation development/change and in consultation and communication with staff and managers.

6. Liaises with Occupational Health Service on staff issues and manages the sickness absence procedures and local reporting.

7. Provide proactive customer focused advice and guidance to managers on legal and employee relations matters, liaising with company lawyers as required in terms of being mindful of potential legal claims, ensuring that the do not breach any legal processes.

8. Deals with employee grievances and supports managers in undertaking investigations and disciplinary matters.

9. Ensures that the recruitment and selection process is successful in terms of working with managers on creative ideas to improve the organisation's field of prospective employees. Working with public relations on recruitment campaigns, open days, conferences and other organisations to improve the organisations' public image in respect of employment opportunities.

10. Ensure regular induction programs are carried out and HR input provided.

11. Ensure all probationary reviews are carried out by managers and new employees are confirmed in post where appropriate.

12. Working with the Learning and Development team to ensure the new systems and procedures are fully implemented throughout the region.

13. Directly manages the HR team, set objectives, manage and review performance in order to provide a comprehensive professional HR service.

14. To be available to work at other locations as and when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR SENIOR HR ADVISOR

Knowledge

• Graduate, and CIPD qualified
• Up to date knowledge of current UK employment legislation
• Knowledge of HR best practice in the Voluntary Sector


Experience
• Minimum 3 years experience of generalist HR matters
• Experience of HR databases eg Northgate
• Experience of multi-site operations would be helpful
• Experience of policy development
• Experience of producing statistics/management information
• An understanding of and commitment to the principles of equal opportunities
• Experience of managing staff

Skills

• Able to communicate effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing
• Able to develop effective internal and external working relationships at all levels
• Able to work on own initiative
• Able to analyse data, prepare reports and present to Senior Management
• Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Project Management skills – able to multi-task
• Basic Research skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Flexible approach to work
