Established in 1959, this client has organically and by acquisition grown to become a major multi-disciplinary consultancy with an enviable portfolio of projects and a number of industry awards.
With 32 offices nationwide, a presence on numerous client sites and over 2000 staff they are in every part of the country, each office having a distinct culture, but sharing the corporate values of excellence, innovation and developing a sustainable operation.
Each office undertakes a broad portfolio of projects, while corporately the ratio between public and private sector work is 50:50. The strategy is to secure a larger percentage of the high profile, public funded works which are being planned and awarded over the next five years while developing their already excellent relationships with private clients.
This position will be an important role in support of the Design Project Manager in helping manage resources and project programmes to ensure successful delivery.
There are a number of key responsibilities with this role which include:
- Providing advice and guidance to staff including training in the use of MX
- Carrying out a lead technical role to produce design specifications and contract documentation
- Acting as a point of contact with your client to progress schemes through to handover
- Assistance with statutory processes including public inquiry
- Attending necessary client meetings
- Liaising with other 3rd parties
- Helping to implement the company
management systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety requirements
Qualifications/Skills Required
Applications are sought from degree qualified civil engineers. You must have previous UK highways design experience and ideally will have a good grasp of highways drainage. You will need to be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of the Statutory Processes including S38 / S278 and a have a good working knowledge of the DMRB.
Previous MX experience is essential and you will ideally have gained experience working with the HA. Any experience of environmentally sensitive schemes and an appreciation of the additional implications would be an advantage.
For the Principal Engineer role you should be a professionally accredited engineer and for a Senior appointment you should be working towards.
