A Senior Signalling Design Engineer is required to head a team of Signalling Designers in York, to be involved with signalling design work at all GRIP stages, though current workload is at GRIP 3/4 and 5. You will be required to produce and independently check concept and detailed design. You will also be responsible for developing your team of signalling designers in association with the Principle Signalling Design Engineers and a Design Manager. You will also be responsible for developing and mentoring junior designers.
Qualifications/Skills Required
To apply for the position of Senior Signalling Design Engineer you must hold suitable IRSE licenses (or equivalent) enabling you to carry out production from first principles and independent checking / verification of Concept Design and Engineering Detail/Detailed Design documents, diagrams and other relevant signalling design outputs.
You should also be aware of operational capacity modelling, with an understanding of RAMS and an appreciation of issues regarding construction, staging, testing, commissioning, maintenance and whole-life management of assets. You should be able to provide design assistance during testing and commissioning and should be able to take a leading role in inter-disciplinary engineering interfaces. You should be environmentally aware and should be considerate of sustainability throughout the design phase. You should understand change control management and have good training/mentoring skills.
Ideally you should have an appreciation of the Project Management process and the need for monitoring and reporting with knowledge of CDM Regulations and other relevant HSE legislation. You should also have good working knowledge of Microstation and PLANS software.
