Job Description

MySQL, the developer of the world's most popular open source database, is looking for a mid to senior level developer to join a growing team of professionals responsible for MySQL Replication. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and able to juggle complex tasks. He/she must be able to work with the internet (IRC, email, VoIP) as a primary form of communication with the rest of the development team. This full-time position is available for qualified candidates world-wide.

Responsibilities:

* Develop new features for MySQL replication according to specifications
* Maintain and improve existing code for MySQL replication
* Write specifications based on product requirements
* Take on challenging new ideas and methods for upcoming products

Qualifications/Skills Required

* 5+ years C/C++ software development experience* Strong understanding of long-running programs (e.g., operating systems, filesystems, networking systems)
* Understanding of database theory (e.g., transaction processing concepts and techniques)
* Proven skills in solving complex issues
* BS Computer Science or equivalent
* Fluent written and spoken English
* Strong experience with Linux or Windows development environments
* Experience working with revision control tools (for example: BitKeeper, Subversion)

Desired:
o MS or PhD
o Experience with replication development
o Experience with database kernel (research, commercial or OSS) development
o Experience with open source development tools and environments
o Contributions to Open Source projects (we like to see Code from people who apply!)
o Experience with MySQL
