Originating in Australia this consultancy has offices across Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia employing over 6000 people in 47 offices. Work spans 7 markets: buildings, defence, power, international development, transport, mining, water and environment.
There are 20 staff in the Sheffield office at present, with 11 in structural engineering and a large office of 150 staff in Manchester providing support when needed. Work tends to be fairly locally based across all sectors. Some examples of current projects include schools, colleges, sports halls and leisure centres. The consultancy are also involved with a number of prestigious projects due to their excellent reputation. A Senior Structural Engineer is required to join the Sheffield office. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the world leaders at an exciting time in their development. Your main duties will include hands on design, management of a design team, mentoring of Graduate Engineers, management of 3 or 4 large projects at any one time, carrying out design reviews, liaison with clients, development and growth of the design team, delivery of projects competently within agreed budgets and time frames.
Qualifications/Skills Required
To apply for the role of Senior Structural Engineer you must be be degree qualified in civil or structural engineering, and should ideally be a Chartered member of the relevant professional institution e.g. IStructE. You should be a proactive, self motivated person keen to take on a challenging role with a forward thinking consultancy.
You must be able to design, deliver and manage multi disciplinary projects, leading by example and mentoring less experienced team members. You should also be fully proficient in design software such as CSC and Robot. In addition you should have good report writing skills, experience of UK design codes and excellent communication skills.
