The purpose of a Service Engineer within this worldwide construction based company is to carry out maintenance procedures on a large healthcare building in West Yorkshire.
As part of the Planned and Preventative Maintenance (PPM) work schedule, the Service Engineer is responsible for repairs, testing and inspection of the building's mechanical and electrical systems and associated construction services, including the plant and equipment in accordance with the relevant standards and operational procedures.
It will be their duty to maintain system records and complete the service reports on the building's mechanical and electrical systems. This may then lead to carrying out installation work that is involved in minor upgrades and adaptation works.
The work will be centred around steam and condense systems, heating and domestic water services, building drainage systems, air conditioning, plant and associated systems, LV electrical distribution system and swithgear, fire alarms, emergency lighting, electrical controls and building management systems (BMS).
At times, Service Engineer's will be required to participate in emergency call-out rota's and to undertake over-time when required to maintain the level of service.
Qualifications/Skills Required
To apply for this post candidates must be able to show recent and relevant experience within a building services working environment. It is also desirable that candidates show previous experience of working in a multi-skilled maintenance environment.
Candidates must be able to show an understanding and ability to perform operational procedures and safe working practices on building services systems, as detailed in the above job description. The ability to maintain, repair and fault find on common building services, plant and equipment appropriate to mechanical and electrical construction services, also forms part of the essential criteria. Whilst experience of this within a healthcare environment is not essential, it is highly desirable and would benefit any applications.
Good communication and customer care skills along with a practical approach to problem solving and the ability to work under minimum supervision is required. A flexible approach with the correct attitude to working the necessary hours and travel to other sites within the company when required is asked for.
