This organisation has been established since 1931 and has always had a connection with social housing. They have also ventured into other markets such as:- schools, churches, private housing, factories, hospitals and civil engineering works. Since the early 1970’s they have embraced the refurbishment of social housing and have gradually become a specialist in this sector.
This client is currently involved in numerous long-term partnering arrangements with Local Authorities, Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMO’s), Large Scale Voluntary Transfer (LSVT’s), Housing Associations and other Social Landlords, in order to help them achieve the governments ‘decent homes’ standard by 2010.
The last year has seen excellent progress made in their stated mission of "delivering community regeneration". The client believes they have successfully delivered on all active partnerships projects, they also have defined strategies to improve and progress these relationships into the future.
Our client is looking for two Site Supervisors to work on the decent home project in Scarborough. The Site Supervisor will be required to assist the Site Managers for installation of high performance double-glazed windows and a fully fitted kitchen; high security composite doors; removing asbestos and various other duties.
This phase of regeneration in the area is worth £1 million with other contracts expected to follow, most of the work will involve refurbishment of social housing, however there is variation in the role, as demolition is required on some properties. You will also be expected to be a key person for tenant liaison on site and maintaining the site log.
Qualifications/Skills Required
In applying for this Site Supervisor position you will need to be a very well organised individual who is looking for a position where you will be working autonomously but able to call upon the support of others for specific tasks.
Any knowledge you have of health and safety matters would be beneficial and you should also have a practical outlook and a willingness to resolve minor maintenance or cleaning issues yourself if the on site Contractors are unavailable.
Previous experience on social housing is advantageous but not essential, however the ideal candidates must have worked on refurbishment projects previously. £27,000 plus car expenses.
