Salary: £18-23k
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
ESSENTIAL:NVQ III in Health & Social Care OR A relevant professional qualification in social work or mental health/learning disabilities nursing
DESIRABLE:Registered Managers Award and / or NVQ IV in Social Care (to have started, or be willing to undertake and achieve in a timely manner)A1/NVQ Assessor
EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL:Minimum of 1 year’s “hands on” experience working with severely disabled children/adults in either a social care or educational environment.
Minimum of 1 year’s experience managing a small team in a relevant care setting within a learning disability environment.

Accountable For:
Team Leaders/ Night staff/ Support Workers (depending on location)
Hours: 169 Hours a month (Based on regional rota and including max of 1 weekend in 3 & On Call participation)
Annual Leave: 35 days Inc Public Holidays
The Organisation is committed to positive approaches and non-aversive methods in the care support of students with learning disabilities.
The 22 service users currently in the Homes are supported by a staff of c.140 staff.
The staff includes managers, positive support managers / co-ordinators, support workers, and other domestic, support and administrative staff.
Aim
Working closely with the Homes Manager, Positive Support Manager and Team Leaders as part of a team, the Team Manager will ensure that the staff have the skills required to ensure that the service users are well cared for and supported to lead as independent a life as possible through modelling best practice for the support workers.
Job Summary
Through applying agreed person centred plans and life skills programmes, support the service users to live a more independent life-style during the entire 24 hour period. This is a "hands on” role and you will spend half of your time working directly with the service users. Providing expert advice and support to staff at all levels, you will be committed to the provision of a high quality service.
You will assist with supervision of the team leaders and support workers to ensure that best practice is maintained. In addition, you will support the Homes Manager by acting as their deputy.
Rota/Sleep-ins
Between the Homes Management team, the Homes Manager will ensure that a manager is on-duty at all times within the homes. This will mean that you will be required to work early and late shifts, weekends and undertake “on-call” duties. This rota will be devised on a regional basis, but will generally entail working one weekend in three (may vary) and when undertaking “on-calls” you will be required to stay within 15 minutes of the homes.
You may also be required to “sleep-in” on rare occasions when extra night support is required for the service users.
The rota is inclusive of bank holidays.
