Job Description
Writing, editing, and publishing technical documentation. You will produce User Guides, Software Development Kit Instructions, Installation Notes and Technical Guides
Planning and producing technical documentation for customers, end users, administrators and programmers
Testing documentation against applications
Conducting reviews of existing documentation
Publishing documentation in printed and online forms
Producing and converting documentation using standard templates
Essential skills and experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in the software industry
Excellent planning and writing skills
Good communication skills. Able to work closely with others to understand and communicate technical issues
Knowledge of single-sourced documentation using FrameMaker and WebWorks to produce PDF documents and online help
Good analytical abilities
Good team player but able to work on own initiative
Desirable skills
Awareness of Page Description Languages including the Postscript language and PDF
Knowledge of the publishing and printing industry and associated software
Contract opportunity for a minimum of 6 months based in Cambridge - Technical Author required, you will need to have knowledge of typical pre-press workflows for both graphic arts and digital print industries. Some experience of Software development (Java/C/C++). Experience of working with multiple platforms (PC, Mac, UNIX)
