As Technical Director you will be instrumental in the development of this existing and successful office on to the next level. With an established team in place at management and operational level your role will be to oversee the office operations and have input in to the numerous skyline changing projects being completed by this dynamic consultancy.
A major part of your role will be to expand this Business Unit in the region over the next 5 years with organic increases in staff numbers, combined with improved profit margins in line with the overall corporate strategy.
Already appointed on several prestigious projects, you will need to be able to demonstrate the potential to continue to develop excellence in M&E Design within the Business Unit and build on its current team size of 30 people.
Undertaking projects mainly in the Yorkshire region with a variety of public and private sector clients the team operates in a wide variety of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Industry, High-rise, Retail, Commercial and Financial.
At least 65 per cent of the projects undertaken by the M&E team are multi-disciplinary and senior members of the team are encouraged to project manage all the engineering services which are provided to the client.
One of your first tasks as Centre Head will be to plan and structure the team to operate efficiently and to continue to ensure proactive integration of the M&E and the C&S teams.
The requirement of this strategic appointment is initially to drive through improvements in commercial management, technical excellence & client care and to develop the client base in line with the overall strategy of the Business Unit.
You will also be involved with managing the design process and as such you will need to demonstrate a full appreciation and delivery of excellence in M&E design.
Qualifications/Skills Required
In applying for this position you will need to have a strong building services design background and have the ability to manage all aspects of a successful team.
This includes the ability to recruit and lead engineers ensuring their welfare and career progression is considered. You will need to demonstrate the necessary values and work ethic to gain the respect of the team and the ability to undertake business development and marketing, develop/maintain excellent client relationships and ensure that the office has an ever increasing order book. Ideally you will have knowledge of the Yorkshire construction market and contacts within the industry.
You should also have the potential to continue to develop excellence in M&E design within the Business Unit and a high level of technical ability is essential.
Your commercial skills are also critical and your ability to manage the profit and loss of the M&E team, invoice and help collection of debts; forecast workload and plan resources, ensuring profitable delivery of projects whilst providing excellent client care are going to be critical to your success in the role.
