Job Description

Technical Support Engineer
Purpose

Working in conjunction with the global sales and support team, the successful candidate will be providing technical support to the UK, overseas sales subsidiaries and third party distributor outlets.

The role will be varied and will include activities within a range of core market sectors: Bio-Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Fine Chemical and Electronics.

The technologies to be supported will include micro-filtration and molecular separation applications.

This position is regarded as key for the provision of support to develop and maintain new and existing business opportunities, within the core market/technology sectors.

Structure

Reporting to the Technical Support Group Manager the successful candidate will join a team of dedicated Technical Support Engineers and Technicians.
As well as providing direct sales support, the role will entail occasional collaboration with Product Managers, as well as other departments within the Technical Division as part of continual product improvement, validation and new product/application development exercises.

Key Tasks

· Provide proactive on site and laboratory based technical support for clarification, stabilization, sterilization and separation applications during:
· The early stages of the process development and quality assessment.
· Scale up.
· Pilot scale trials.
· System implementation and commissioning/validation
· Competitors' system replacements.
· Used product investigation and sample analysis

· Provide professional written technical reports on conclusion of on site trials/laboratory test work.
· Understand technical drawings and automated control operations for system reviews.
· Collection of precise system data and provision of customer site/operation surveys.
· Acting in a consultative capacity, you will provide advice on best practice.
· Construct customer specific SOP's where required for process improvement.
· Trouble shooting in a reactive capacity, where customers perceive a lack of filter performance. In such circumstances implement appropriate containment actions/mitigation and provide an effective solution.
· Conduct training sessions when required both internally and externally for customers and internal dh personnel.
· Be a key contact for a specific geographical area or market segment, providing support in an advisory capacity via telephone or e-mail to the sales force.
· Provide implementation and integration support of filter integrity test equipment. Providing suitable documentation for acceptance of test units within the customer's compliance/validation framework will require an understanding of applicable legislation.

Personal Attributes
· Science background to at least degree level, preferably to Phd, ideally in a biological, chemical, physics or engineering related discipline.
· Practical approach to problem solving
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Experience of dealing with customers, their problems and compiling appropriate responses.
· Highly self-motivated and results focused.
· Confident in public speaking.
· Ideally the candidate will have applicable experience in a support role in one or more of the core industry sectors.
· Flexible and willing to travel within the UK and internationally.
