Your primary focus is going to be working closely with a senior engineer and learning how to create systems which will move clean, grey and dirty water around a building while taking up the minimum of space, needing the minimum of maintenance and complying with all the various building regulations and safety standards.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Public Health Design Engineers have two routes of entry to the career; coming from the tools as a plumber (or heating engineer) or as a civil engineering or mechanical (or ideally HVAC Building Services) graduate.
If you have experience of public health design, this will naturally be advantageous, as would any knowledge of using AutoCAD.
Sponsorship for addition study is available with the position as is time off to attend college. You need to have the desire to enter a specialist niche of the building services design arena and to have a keen interest in producing elegant solutions to problems which may not necessarily be solved by the installation of extra equipment.
Public Health Engineering offers excellent career prospects and long term job security due to the specialised nature of the work, the increasing complexity of buildings and developments in the materials available for you to utilise in schemes.
