Job Description

Trainee Public Health Design Engineer
This prestigious company has status as a global engineering, management and development consultancy. As such they are able to offer excellent career prospects and an attractive benefits package combined with a stimulating and rewarding environment to work within where employees matter most.

The office in Sheffield is the largest within our clients network in Yorkshire and has around 150 staff working across the Civil and Structural Engineering spectrum.

The Water Team (incorporating Drainage and Infrastructure) has around 10 members and works closely with other offices around the region. Operating as their own separate business unit whilst also providing support to teams including Highways and Building Structures they are currently engaged in a number of schemes locally and nationally.

Our client is confident that they can offer market leading salaries, a relaxing and comfortable environment to work in and fantastic career opportunities throughout the group as demonstrated by the high number of senior level staff who have ‘risen through the ranks’.

Their current benefits package includes:

- Pension
- Bonus scheme
- Health insurance
- Membership fees paid

As a Trainee Public Health Design Engineer you will be learning how to design internal drainage systems for all manner of building projects such as schools, hospitals, retail developments and high rise schemes.

Your primary focus is going to be working closely with a senior engineer and learning how to create systems which will move clean, grey and dirty water around a building while taking up the minimum of space, needing the minimum of maintenance and complying with all the various building regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications/Skills Required

Public Health Design Engineers have two routes of entry to the career; coming from the tools as a plumber (or heating engineer) or as a civil engineering or mechanical (or ideally HVAC Building Services) graduate.

If you have experience of public health design, this will naturally be advantageous, as would any knowledge of using AutoCAD.

Sponsorship for addition study is available with the position as is time off to attend college. You need to have the desire to enter a specialist niche of the building services design arena and to have a keen interest in producing elegant solutions to problems which may not necessarily be solved by the installation of extra equipment.

Public Health Engineering offers excellent career prospects and long term job security due to the specialised nature of the work, the increasing complexity of buildings and developments in the materials available for you to utilise in schemes.

Please note: Applications will not be considered from those candidates who are not entitled to work within the UK or the country of the advertised vacancy.
