What does this CV checker actually look at?
Six things, each scored out of 100: impact and achievements (quantified results rather than a list of duties), clarity and structure, skills and keywords, length and formatting, spelling and grammar, and your professional summary. Those six feed into one overall score and a letter grade — A for 85 and above, B for 75 to 84, C for 65 to 74, D for 55 to 64, E for 45 to 54, and F below 45. You also get a one-line read on how an applicant tracking system is likely to handle your file.
Do I need a target job to use it?
No. The checker scores your CV on its own merits, so you can run it before you’ve got a specific role in mind. If you do have a job description to hand, the grading tool scores that advert against your CV instead — and the CV builder will rewrite your CV around it.
Will an applicant tracking system be able to read my CV?
Most UK employers pass applications through an ATS before a human ever sees them. The usual culprits for a mangled parse are columns, text buried inside images, contact details sitting in headers or footers, and section names the system doesn’t recognise. Every check returns an ATS note flagging what’s likely to survive that process and what isn’t, alongside the skills and keywords score.
Is my CV good enough?
A letter grade is a blunter answer than most reviews give you. That’s deliberate. A C means your CV is readable but it’s not competitive. The section scores show you exactly where it’s losing marks, and the top fixes are ordered by priority — each one comes with an example of the actual rewrite, not just a vague instruction to “be more specific”.
Do I need an account, and what happens to my CV?
No account needed. Three free checks a day, PDF or Word up to 10 MB, or just paste the text straight in. Your CV is never sold, and you can delete it whenever you like.
Once you know what to fix, the CV builder rewrites your CV for a specific advert, and the job grader tells you whether that advert is worth the evening in the first place.
