Frequently asked questions

Honest answers about pricing, data, methodology, and what we won't do.

Pricing

Is it actually free?
Yes, during public beta. After signing up you can score job descriptions, generate CVs and cover letters, and draft Q&A answers with no card on file. We'll introduce paid tiers later (likely a small monthly fee for unlimited use, with a free tier kept for 3 scores per month). We'll give existing users at least 14 days' notice before any change.
Will my current data still be free when you start charging?
Yes. Everything you've generated stays in your account regardless of plan. If you don't upgrade, you fall back to the free tier limits — your historical jobs, CVs and letters remain accessible and exportable.

How it works

How does the A–F score actually work?
Our AI engine (searchforjobs.ai) reads the job description and your profile, then scores 10 weighted dimensions: role fit, seniority match, compensation signal, company quality, tech stack alignment, remote/location fit, growth potential, red flags in the JD, mission interest, and application effort vs. reward. The weighted average gets bucketed: A (85+), B (75–84), C (65–74), D (55–64), E (45–54), F (under 45). The model is told to be honest, not nice — so a C means a C.
Why don't you auto-submit applications?
Three reasons. (1) Most ATS systems detect and ban automated submissions — getting flagged hurts you, not us. (2) One hallucinated detail in an auto-submitted application can permanently damage your reputation with that company. (3) The bottleneck in job-hunting isn't hitting "submit" — it's deciding which jobs are worth it and writing materials that don't suck. We compress those steps. You still hit submit.
Will the AI invent experience I don't have?
No. The CV and cover letter prompts explicitly tell searchforjobs.ai not to invent experience — only reorder, rephrase, and mirror keywords for things you truthfully have. If your profile is sparse, the output will be sparse. Filling in your profile completely is the single biggest lever you have for output quality.
Can I paste a URL instead of a job description?
Yes, for Greenhouse, Ashby, and Lever URLs we use their official APIs to grab the JD cleanly. Other sites (LinkedIn, Indeed, company careers pages) we attempt to scrape — if it fails, paste the JD text manually. We'll add direct integrations for the major UK job boards (Reed, Totaljobs, CV-Library) in a future update.
Is there a Chrome extension?
Yes. Sign in and open the extension page in your dashboard — download the zip, load it as an unpacked extension in chrome://extensions/ with Developer mode on, and pin it to your toolbar. One click on any LinkedIn / Indeed / Reed / Totaljobs / CV-Library / Greenhouse / Ashby / Lever job page grades it in ~10 seconds. The “Save to my account” button drops the graded job straight into your Discovered column. Chrome Web Store submission is on the roadmap.

Data & privacy

Do you train AI on my CV or job descriptions?
No. Your profile, JDs, generated CVs and cover letters are stored only in your account, encrypted at rest in Upstash Redis (EU region). Anthropic, who runs the AI model we use, doesn't train on API traffic either. We never sell your data and we don't share it with recruiters.
Where is my data stored?
Upstash Redis, EU-West region. Authentication via Clerk. Optional anonymous analytics via Vercel (opt-in only). Full details in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
Sign in, go to Account (top-right), and click Delete my account permanently. This wipes all your data from our database and deletes your Clerk account in one action. Full GDPR right-to-erasure compliance.
How do I export my data?
Same page — click Download my data (JSON) and you'll get every record we hold about you as a single file. UK GDPR right of access & portability, in machine-readable form.

Using the tool

I got an "A" graded job and they ghosted me. What gives?
The score reflects fit between the JD and your profile, not the probability of a response. Ghost jobs (postings with no real hiring intent) exist regardless of fit — see our post on spotting them. We try to surface red flags in the score (the JD being too generic, the company laying off, the role reposted multiple times), but we can't see the company's internal hiring intent.
Can I use this if I'm outside the UK?
Yes, but the outputs are tuned for the UK market: British English, UK CV format (no photo, no DOB), GBP salary expectations, UK right-to-work norms. It still works for international applications but you may need to tweak the cover letter for tone.
Will recruiters notice the CV is AI-generated?
If you read the output and edit anything that feels off, no. AI-generated CVs only get caught when people copy-paste without reading, or when the prompt produces obvious AI tells ("in today's fast-paced world…", "passionate about driving innovation"). Our prompts strip those by default. Always read the output before sending.
Does it work for non-tech roles?
Yes. We've had users score and tailor for marketing, sales, finance, healthcare, legal, and education roles. The 10-dimension scoring model is industry-agnostic. The CV format adapts based on your profile.

Business

Who built this?
Mohammed Kazi, a UK SaaS founder (Zayn Productions Ltd) who also runs PublishOS, ZayPOS, DocsCheck, SalesHub Cloud, ZaynBot, and ZaynIT. Solo operator. You can reach me at icallmarketing2020@gmail.com.
Will you sell my data to recruiters?
No. Not now, not ever. Selling candidate data would breach UK GDPR and destroy the only thing this tool has going for it — being on the candidate's side. The only data we might commercialise in future is fully-anonymous aggregate stats about job postings themselves (e.g. "the average tech JD scores a C") — never anything tied to a person.
I'm a recruiter / company. Can I get analytics on my postings?
Not yet, but it's on the roadmap. If you're interested in scoring your own job posts (description quality, ghost-job indicators, candidate fit metrics) before they go live, email icallmarketing2020@gmail.com.
